Marine & Logistics Security

On water, the perimeter moves. Security has to travel with the asset, the cargo and the crew.

Marine terminal and logistics operation

Marine and logistics operations invert the usual security problem. There is no fixed line to defend: the asset is in transit, the surrounding environment changes hour by hour, and the points of greatest exposure are transfers — ship to shore, jetty to truck, yard to gate.

Losses in this environment concentrate where custody changes hands and where documentation is weak. A great deal of what looks like external theft turns out, on examination, to be a failure of custody control at a transfer point.

What this covers

  • Jetty, quayside and terminal perimeter and access control
  • Vessel and offshore support asset protection planning
  • Cargo custody, seal integrity and documentation control at transfer points
  • Escort and movement coordination for road and marine transit
  • Crew screening, muster and access discipline
  • Route risk assessment for transit corridors
  • Coordination with maritime and regulatory authorities
  • Incident reporting aligned to marine and operator requirements

Method

How we approach it

Four principles that shape every deployment of this capability, whatever the site.

01

Secure the transfer, not just the asset

We map every point where custody changes and treat each as a controlled event with a named responsible person, a check and a record. Most recoverable loss sits in those gaps rather than in dramatic incidents at sea.

02

Treat the route as part of the asset

A transit corridor has chokepoints, predictable timings and places where a vehicle or vessel is obliged to slow or stop. Those are assessed in advance and factored into scheduling and escort planning.

03

Work with the authorities, not around them

Marine operations sit inside a regulatory and enforcement structure. Coordination with the relevant authorities is part of the plan from the start, not something improvised during an incident.

04

Assume documentation will be tested

Manifests, seals, timings and handover signatures are the evidence base for everything that follows a dispute. We build the recording discipline to withstand being examined line by line.

What we will ask you

These are the questions that shape a serious proposal. If you already know the answers, the first conversation moves a lot faster.

  • What moves, how often, and between which points?
  • Where does custody change hands, and who signs for it?
  • What losses or discrepancies have you seen, and at which stage?
  • Are movements scheduled predictably, and can that be varied?
  • What are your jetty and terminal access arrangements today?
  • Which authorities and agencies are already involved in your operations?

Common questions

Before you ask us

Do you provide armed protection at sea?

Armed maritime protection in Nigerian waters is tightly regulated and provided through the designated authorities. We will tell you exactly what the lawful route is for your operation and coordinate accordingly rather than offering something we cannot lawfully deliver.

Can you cover road haulage as well as marine?

Yes. Most cargo losses happen across the join between the two, so scoping them separately tends to leave the weakest link uncovered.

We already use a marine agent. Does this overlap?

It complements it. Agency handles the commercial and regulatory process; this covers custody control, physical security and incident response around it.
